Satchel Paige quotes

"Age is a question of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter."

"I use my single windup, my double windup, my triple windup, my hesitation windup, my no windup. I also use my step-n-pitch-it, my submariner, my sidearmer and my bat dodger. Man's got to do what he's got to do."

"My feet ain't got nothing to do with my nickname, but when folks get it in their heads that a feller's got big feet, soon the feet start looking big."

"Ain’t no man can avoid being born average, but there ain’t no man got to be common."

"Don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines."

"Work like you don't need the money. Love like you've never been hurt. Dance like nobody's watching."

"You win a few, you lose a few. Some get rained out. But you got to dress for all of them."

"My pitching philosophy is simple; you gotta keep the ball off the fat part of the bat."

Get After It

"Not everyone who chased the zebra caught it, but he who caught it, chased it."
- South African proverb

Dean Karnazes quotes

"I'm not a special guy. I am not gifted. Never, however, do I take shortcuts. There is no path of least resistance in my training. What I do equates to hard manual labor, disciplined grunt work. Once you permit yourself to compromise, you fail yourself. You might be able to fool some people, but you can never fool yourself. Your toughest critic is the one you face every morning in the mirror."

"If you're passionate and driven, you can accomplish things."

"When situations seem thorny and convoluted beyond reconciliation, the weight of the complexities blurs the simple reality that there is really only one fundamental decision to be made: Stop or continue."

Life Insights

1. It doesn't matter how fast you're going if you're moving in the wrong direction.
2. Even if you're inches away from the finish, never take success for granted.
3. Regardless of how distant your dreams may seem, every second counts.
4. Never, under any circumstances, argue with a tired woman. She is always right.

Africa

"Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must move faster than the lion or it will not survive. Every morning a lion wakes up and it knows it must move faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve. It doesn't matter if you are the lion or the gazelle, when the sun comes up in Africa you better be moving." - Maurice Greene

Eagnas starting clamp

I received my Eagnas PP-600 by mail last Saturday (02 July) and am raring to use it.

Here below I post the operating procedure. This was taken from the Eagnas website.

1) Used as starting clamp to hold the string from inside the frame.

2) Used as starting clamp for holding the string from outside the frame for 50-50 string pattern.

3) Used for patching or tensioning strings by using a discarded piece of string to extend it to the string gripper.

3.1) patching:

- Place the short string into the jaws.

- Thread a discarded piece of string through the outside hole on the left and pull the string through the corresponding hole at the right.

- Place this string into the string gripper of the Eagnas stringing machine.

Moving on

"You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore." - Christopher Columbus

I've made a momentous decision to lead another team. The new team will be very challenging as it is a new domain. I always believe that there is opportunity in everything. From this new team I believe I'll learn more and it may help me to progress in my career.

I hope my current Europe MS Team learned something during my tenure. I hope they realized how much of their interest I have put ahead of myself. I hope that I made a difference.
